John L. Simmons was born April 19, 1948 in Gould, Arkansas to Virgil and Ethel Simmons. Both preceded him in death. He was born to a family of 13 children, in which 3 brothers preceded him in death (Virgil Jr., Richard, and Henry Simmons).

John Simmons is my bonus dad but he treated me the same as if I was born a Simmons. I’m forever grateful for you to have raised me as your own and will miss you and keep you forever in my heart! Love you daddy 💜😘
R.I.P. cousin! My condolences to my family.
I remember as a child, I would come over to play with LaToya and she would say we got to be quiet so we don’t wake my dad and one day we were too loud he woke up and told all her company we had to go I was scared of him until I became an adult. To Darlene, Sonya, LaToya & Jay I give you all my condolences and I love y’all.
