John Richard Morris, 71, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 following a 5-year battle with a brain aneurysm.
John was born in Atlanta and lived in Canada, Texas and Georgia. He was a draftsman in the aeronautical industry in the 60’s starting at Lockheed in Georgia, then with a firm in Canada, and later at General Dynamics in Texas. He was an inventor and salesman and owned many businesses in the automotive and residential industry. He loved being on the water and spending time outdoors fishing and camping. He enjoyed listening to music, singing, reading, playing cards, gambling and driving his assortment of cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles and boats. He was also an animal lover and had a variety of pets such as dogs, cats, pot-bellied pigs, chickens and miniature horses. He was known for his quick wit, sayings, ideas and determination to succeed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucille, and sisters, Cecelia and Tammy.
He is survived by his son, David and wife Nancy Morris of Milton, GA; daughters, Sharon and husband Kerry Ward of Dunwoody, GA, Melynda and husband Ricky Jackson of Powder Springs, GA, and Tammie Fish of Laurel, MD; 8 grandchildren, Tiffany, Alecia, Connor, Nathan, Joshua, Tyler, Lindsey and Dylan; 2 great grandchildren, Brody and Brylee; brother, Allan and wife Debbie Morris of Ranger, GA; former wives, Gail and husband Mike Devine of Powder Springs, GA and Rene Morris of Powder Springs, GA.
A memorial service will be held at Alpharetta United Methodist Church in the Vinebranch Chapel on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00am.
