Jonny Lamar Dempsey

August 15, 1960 ~ January 16, 2021

Jonny Lamar Dempsey passed away on January 16, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in Marietta, Georgia he was the son of the late James and Myrtle (Hillhouse) Dempsey. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Waller; stepchildren, Rebecca Johnson and Chris Lawrence; grandchildren, Samantha, Sierra, Joshua, Gabriel, Nikki, and Allen; brothers, Hoyle Dempsey of Acworth, GA, Donald (Gail) Dempsey of Canton, GA, and Jerry (Debra) Dempsey of Dallas, GA; sisters, Renee (Dennis) Vaughn of Woodstock, GA and Sherry Dempsey of Ball Ground, GA; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. Jonny was a kind and big-hearted man who made friends easily and was loved by many. He enjoyed life and always had a big grin for everyone. He loved being outdoors and hunting and fishing. He will be missed by all those who loved him. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 and 2 – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in the Columbarium at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the Columbarium with burial to follow in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.

  1. My deepest sympathy goes out to Jonnys’ family and friends. It’s not easy losing someone you love. Being a neighbor of Jonnys’ for most of his life, I watched him grow from a sweet boy to a sweet,caring,gentle man. He will be greatly missed.   2. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I worked with Jonny back in mid to late 80’s at Kroger. Me and him use to go fishing back then , he loved to fish. He will be missed by many. Mark Huey
