Kenneth Alton Livingston

February 14, 1939 ~ March 14, 2020

Kenneth “Ken” A. Livingston went home to heaven on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the age of 81. Ken was born a Valentine’s baby on February 14, 1939 in Hogansville GA. He helped survey the backwoods of central Georgia and had a newspaper paper route as a teenager. He went from the farm to Georgia Southwestern College on a basketball scholarship and transferred to University of Georgia where he graduated in 1961. After college, Ken went to work as a loan officer in various banks throughout Georgia until 1975 when he started Signal Realty, his own successful real estate company in Newnan, GA. Ken moved to Marietta with Donna, his wife, in 1994 and continued with his real estate business working up until his health began failing in recent months. Ken was a Christian from childhood and was always involved in church as an usher or in the parking ministry. On Easter, he entertained the kids by wearing bunny ears as he drove the golf carts. Ken remained an avid Bulldog fan throughout his life and even bestowed the name “Georgia” on one of his dogs. He couldn’t carry a tune, but loved music and dancing to his Motown tunes. Genealogy, gardening, reading and Civil War history were his pastimes. Ken could talk to anyone but loved children and “old people”, as he called them, and had a huge soft spot for those down on their luck. Pre-deceasing Ken were his mother Lena Phillips and his father Herman Phillips, first wife Joan Guy Livingston and a sister, Linda Shivers. Ken is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna; Children Tammy (and Donnie) Owens of Newnan, GA; Marti (and Joseph) Whittle of North Prince George, VA; Joseph Stewart (and Sarah) of Marietta, GA; Leigh (and William) Miles of Marietta, GA and J. David (and Kim) Stewart of Mableton, GA. Grandchildren include Joshua (and Jessica) Lummus, Bryce Norvell, Kaleigh Purcell, Matthew Stewart, David Stewart, Savannah Grace Miles, Elizabeth Miles, Will Miles and Reagan Stewart. He had six great-grandchildren; Estrella, Sophia, Luis, Andrea, Bella and Lyla Lummus and a new great-granddaughter on the way, in addition to a number of nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Bryce Norvell, Joseph Stewart, J. David Stewart, William Miles, Joshua Lummus. Donnie Owens and Joseph Whittle.
