Lawrence Hubert Thorne

Lawrence H. Thorne, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2nd 2020, at Sunrise Senior Living in East Cobb, Marietta, GA, while surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his 3 children, Stephen Thorne, and his wife, Amy Thorne, of Kennesaw, GA, Suzanne Sordillo of Charlotte, NC, Andrew Thorne of Columbia, SC, and two beloved grandchildren, Anne Sordillo and Max Thorne. He was predeceased in death by his three brothers; Robert Thorne, George Thorne, and Erick Thorne. And especially his loving wife, Verla Thorne, after 62 years of marriage, on April 6th, 2019. Larry was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 6th 1926 to Dr. Lawrence and Borghild Thorne, RN. After serving our country in WWII, he had a long career with 3M Company. Verla and Larry retired to Hilton Head Island, where they lived for 33 years before moving to the Atlanta area. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15th at 11:00 AM at Cheatham Memorial Park at 1861 Dallas Hwy. SW, Marietta, GA. A VA burial with full honors will be held on Monday, February, 17th 2020 at 9:00 AM at the GA National Cemetery, Canton, GA. 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton GA.
