Lewis Ray Hinton, age 84 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday 02/06/2021 in his Mableton, Ga home of 63 years. Ray is survived by his adoring wife Barbara Ann Barden Hinton and his 3 daughters: Lisa Jean Hinton - Mableton GA, Vicky Ann (and Kevin) Pruitt - Powder Springs, GA and Rene (and Tim) Rutledge - Smyrna GA. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Phillip (and Kristin) Driver - Cumming, GA, Jill Driver - Atlanta, Ga, Matthew Loriss - Powder Springs, and Valerie Loriss - Marietta, GA. He is also survived by two great grandsons, Rhett and Reece Driver – Cumming, Ga.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Louis Carlton Hinton and Minnie Lee Pierce Hinton – Atlanta, GA., his 3 sisters, Betty Hunter, Becky Miller and Judy Davis and 1 grandson Matthew Driver.
Ray was born on April 20, 1936 in Atlanta Ga and attended E.P Howell elementary and O’Keefe High school, both in Atlanta Ga.
Ray began his long railroad career with the L&N Railroad at the age of 16. He also worked for Seaboard Airline Railroad and retired from CSX railroad in 1998. Ray had a passion for pool and cards and could be found daily at the Freeman Poole Senior Center. He received many volunteer awards and loved to volunteer his time and money to see that all the seniors enjoyed a good hotdog meal along with his famous ‘Yellow Jacket’ chili. He also enjoyed bingo at the American Legion, Post 264.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday February 13, 2021 at 3:00PM. Visitations are Friday 6-9 and Saturday 2-3 at Southern Cremations & Funerals 1861 Dallas Hwy, SW Marietta, Ga.

When I worked at CFP the highlight of my day was always talking to Ray and Barb. Ray reminded me of my daddy. He was always cutting up with me. What it must be, to have his faith become sight! Rest easy Ray! Barb I love you. Prayers for you and the family!
