Byron at Christmas with a John Wayne book I bought him! I love his smile!
I met Byron and Charlene shortly after moving across the street to them several years ago and we became fast friends. Byron had many incredible experiences in life. His stories about his family, driving tanks through Germany, the houses and people he did trim work and built ornate staircases for and his knowledge of Western movies and the people who acted in them were always educational and enjoyable to listen to. He loved John Wayne “The Duke” and knew all his movies, of which we watched a couple together. He introduced me to many new movies I had never seen., Western and others. I never knew him before his illness but from what I learned from he and Charlene as well as his character even during his illness I could see he was a wonderful man. I had the pleasure to meet their family on several occasions and was grateful to be accepted. He loved them all so ver much. Byron and Charlene spent several holidays with my family, if he praised my cooking i knew it was good! He had high standards!vAnd we had some of the best dinners at their house! It was a pleasure and a privilege to know Byron and I am grateful to know he is with Jesus and no longer suffering!
Thank you so much for the sweet memories you shared.
Although our hearts are broken, yours is now mended. Fly high Byron. There are no words to express how much you are loved and missed.
Charlene and Russ, I know this what Byron is saying to you both…
As I sit in Heaven, and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you’re laughing, and watch you while you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don’t feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take, you’ll be taking one for me!
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you and whispered “come with me”.
With tearful eyes I watched you, slowly fade away.
Although, I love you dearly, I would not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.
God broke my heart to show me, He only takes the best.
I love you my sweet darling husband. Peaches
Byron, Thank you for your warm heart and love for my sister Charlene. I know that you were the lights in each other’s lives and you each brought so much joy to one another. You brought laughter and joy into her life and I know she will miss you so much but we also know that she did not want you to suffer. You have been a loving, husband, a loving father and grandfather so please know that you were and are loved.
We have so many wonderful memories of the times we spent with Byron and Charlene. There was the time we went to a waterfall in Cherokee National Forest, but Byron refused to go. He decided to stay at the creek fishing because he said the last time he went back to the waterfall, Hell’s Angels were camping back there. Then there was the time Byron, my son-in-law, Joe, and my husband, Mike, turned onto a one way street, but they were going the wrong way. Byron told Joe to turn, so Joe turned, but he was going the wrong way on another one way street. Byron said he didn’t know what to do because he was in the middle of Mike and Joe in Joe’s truck, so he couldn’t jump out! We had a good laugh over that one! God blessed Charlene and Byron with one another. I have never seen a couple so much in love.
