Marjorie Anne Wallace

October 19, 1931 ~ May 19, 2019

Marjorie Anne Wallace, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at her son’s home surrounded by family. She was born on October 19, 1931 to Tom Crawley Thomas and Linnie Maud Thomas of Palatka, Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 68 years, Mr. Stuart Rhett Wallace, Jr.; her son Stuart Rhett Wallace III; her parents, Tom and Linnie Thomas; and her sisters, Mabel Johnson, Doris Frazier, Ouida Thomas, and Twyla Elliott. Our mother loved the Lord, loved her husband and her children. She was an accomplished homemaker and loving mother as well as an artist and writer. Her greatest gift was teaching from the book she loved the most, the Bible. She began teaching Sunday School at the age of fourteen and it spanned a lifetime to include teaching Bible character education in public schools, working with juveniles living in detention centers, teaching adult Sunday School and having Bible study groups in her home. Her focus always was to teach God’s word. To quote our mother, “Every teacher who loves teaching, loves the opportunity to interact with children…be it their own, neighborhood children, grandchildren or children caught together by circumstances of tragedy.” Her deepest desire was to give those she taught an understanding of the Bible and the love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. She was our teacher as well and we will miss her dearly. Marjorie Anne Wallace is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Twyla Jo and Perry Riggins and Leslie and George Coon; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Nancy Wallace; and three grandchildren, Stuart Rhett Wallace IV, Natalie Wallace, and Annabelle Wallace. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, Georgia 30064.
