Mary Donna DeGannes-Fleming was called home to glory on January 23, 2021 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Mary was born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago on August 8, 1961 to Reverend Errol DeGannes and Molly DeGannes née Sanderson. Mary was the only girl of seven children and truly enjoyed the company of her six older brothers Cleveland DeGannes, Herbert DeGannes, Paul DeGannes, Samuel DeGannes, Reverend John DeGannes and Stephen DeGannes. She is preceded in death by her father Reverend Errol DeGannes, and her brother Cleveland DeGannes.
Mary worked as a Healthcare provider at several facilities in Boston, Massachusetts and Atlanta, Georgia including Bayada Health Care Boston, Brookline Public Schools, Landmark Assisted Living, Partners Hospice, Susan Ballis Assisted Living, Agape Hospice, The Mann Assisted Living Home, Bayada Health Care Atlanta and Autumn Leaves Prime Care Learning. She loved her patients like her own family and provided comfort and care during the most difficult times of their lives. She made the decision to return to school in her mature years and she graduated from Fisher College in 2016 with a degree in Healthcare Management.
Mary lived a very active lifestyle and was quite adventurous. She will be best remembered as a faithful woman of God, for her love of travel and the time she spent with family and friends. Her childhood friend Judith La Rosa recalls their trip to Israel as a life changing experience for Mary, in which she was able to tour the Holy Land. As a devout Christian, retracing the steps of Jesus was a lifelong goal. She participated in track and field as a child in Trinidad and as an adult she enjoyed playing netball with her fellow netball club members, apple picking, dancing and singing. She donated her time and resources to the Salvation Army and several churches in Boston and Atlanta. Her three children and four grandchildren will remember her as a dedicated, hardworking mother and grandmother, who always put her family’s needs before her own. Her family in Trinidad and around the world will remember her as a caring and devoted daughter, sister, cousin and aunt Who treated her nieces and nephews like her own children. As the eldest cousin of the other family members in Atlanta, Georgia, Mary spent many holidays and special occasions surrounding her family with sincere love and support. Her presence will be greatly missed.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Molly DeGannes, sons Donny Calder and Dane Charles, daughter Natalia DeGannes, granddaughters Neviah De La Cruz, Talia Calder and Arianna Calder, grandson Noah Lewis, brothers Herbert, Paul, Samuel, John and Stephen DeGannes, sisters-in-law Kathleen Henry, Gemma De Gannes (deceased), Marilyn DeGannes and Jacqueline DeGannes, the DeGannes, Mattis, Sanderson, Polo, Joseph, Simon and Matthews Families in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

MAY THE GRACE OF GOD COMFORT THE FAMILY OF A AMAZING WOMAN OF GOD WHO ALWAYS HAD A PRAISE DANCE FOR THE LORD JESUS CHRIST R.I. P. MRS MARY DONNA FLEMING
Ms. Mary was my nephew’s grandmother. I saw her love for him as well as her love for her granddaughter and family. She had such a kind and sweet soul. I will be sure to tell my nephew just how much she loved him.
As a former Pastor of Lily of the Valley Baptist Church, where I met Sister Mary, I came to love and embrace her energetic praise for the Lord. When I needed a member to welcome the guests to our church, I always wanted Mary to do it because she had a genuine love for the Lord the people he sent our way. Mary would always sing a song that nobody knew, but we would catch on, and then offer a dance unto the Lord that reminded me of King David. Your laughter, your Praise, and your energy will be sorely missed. I can still here your island dialect when you called my name in Love, “Pastor Ruff”. I love you Sister Mary, but God 🙏 loves you best. You have faught a good fight, kept the faith, and finished the course. There is now a crown of righteousness that awaits you 🙏❤️. Rest forever in Paradise.🙏🙏🙏
Mary was a role model for her family. She was an ambitious, hardworking, dedicated, woman of faith, and adored her gr children. My family spent a weekend in Boston together with her family, mom Molly, brother Johnny and stayed connected since then. Her last text in December to me was her negative covid results which she was happy about. She will be missed. -From cousin Wilfred/maude Joseph
