Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Mary Edappallychirayil Joseph, age 88, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the presence of her son, daughter and daughter in-law in Marietta, Ga. She was born in Kerala, India, on December 2, 1927 to Joseph and Mariamma. She first pursued a career in nursing and studied in Baroda, Gujarat before getting married to Peter Harry in 1963. They had two beautiful children, Priya and Santosh Harry, who were raised in Bangalore, India and together Mary and Peter would have a hand in raising their four grandchildren in the United States.
Mary was dearly loved and treasured by her loved ones whom she cared for with open arms. She became a citizen of the United States in 2005 in order to take care of her grandchildren, Stephen and Natasha Paul (children of daughter Priya and son in-law Bobby), in Texas, and Shamir and Sanjeet Harry (children of son Santosh and daughter in-law Celina) in Georgia. She was often visited by her nephews and nieces as she is the last of six children to pass away. Her memory will live through her vast family as friend, mother, grandmother, and beloved.
Mary will be remembered for her strong will and bold character. She was the only daughter in her family to receive a higher level education and has always been known for her vast knowledge of the world and intellectual prowess. She enjoyed catching up with family and sharing her past experiences through photos and stories. In her older age she dedicated a great portion of her time to her religious practices and found great solace in her daily mass and prayer to her Lord Jesus Christ. Mary was especially fond of learning about Catholic Saints and watching all variations of Indian Classical Dance. She will forever be honored for her strong faith in God, commitment to her family, curiosity of the world, and loving smile and affection.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 starting with a wake at 10:00 a.m followed by mass at 11:00 a.m at Holy Family Knanaya Catholic Church (Address: 3885 Rosebud Rd, Loganville GA 30052). Lunch will be served after the service in the Parish Hall.
