Mary Sue Royal, 93, of Marietta, passed away Fri., Dec. 9, 2016. Ms. Royal was born in Ray City, Ga., on Jun. 14, 1923, and was a longtime resident of Marietta. She worked for several years in the hospitality industry before retiring from Publix in 2009. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Leiupo; her brother, Jack Smith; her son, Billy Joe Royal; and her daughters, Christine Buffington and Marilyn Murray. Ms. Royal is survived by her brother, Joe Smith, of Valdosta, Ga.; her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Joye Royal, of Dallas, Ga.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m., Sun., Dec. 11, followed by memorial services, at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ms. Royal to the Alzheimer's Association.

‘When I met you we were both working at the Ramada Inn Marietta in 1972. I was a young teenager and you took me under your wing, I came to love Tina and Marilyn (especially Marilyn because I spent a lot of time with her and she introduced me to Billy Joe since I was a big fan). You worked hard every day and never complained. You gave me so many good memories. I will always love you, Mary. Were I not home bound with this cancer I would be at your funeral. But I am home bound and not mobile. My spirit is with you. Rest In Peace dear lady.
