In Loving Memory of Meline “Liline” Alexandre
Meline Alexandre was born on September 20, 1958, to Marie Merianie St. Vil and Louis Armand Alexandre. She was the oldest of eight children, and from a very young age, Liline understood exactly her assignment, what it meant to be the eldest.
She had a strong personality, and she made sure her younger brothers and sisters knew who was in charge. In the Alexandre family, nobody made a major decision without Liline’s approval! She was protective, determined, and never afraid to speak her mind. And, as many of us know, Liline always liked to have the last word.
But behind that strong personality was an even stronger heart.
Liline was intelligent, ambitious, hardworking, and constantly eager to learn. At just 21 years old, she had already become a civil engineer and was working for a national firm, where she met her husband, Auguste-Yves Landais. They married on July 3, 1982, and together they had two beautiful children: Marc Auguste Landais, who passed away on November 30, 2023, and Ann-Melissa Landais McClendon.
Liline loved many things: cooking, learning, hosting, and, above all, helping others. She was not a perfect person, and she would probably be the first one to tell you that, but she had a heart big enough to help anyone in need. She would go to great lengths to help the people she loved, sometimes even across the world.
Her love for her brothers and sisters was especially strong. She cared for them, supported them, and sent money from Haiti to the United States when some of them were struggling. Her siblings may have occasionally disagreed with her strong opinions, but they all loved her deeply. And they have said that, despite everything, they would never trade Liline for another older sister.
Liline was also someone who never stopped learning. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus in Real Estate at Georgia State University. Even in the last year of her life, she proudly told anyone willing to listen that she had received the highest grade in her training with the IRS. That was Liline, proud, determined, intelligent, and always ready to remind you just how good she was!
On July 3, 2000, after 18 years of marriage, Liline made one of the bravest decisions of her life. She separated husband and brought her two children back to the United States, determined to give
Life in the United States was not easy. She was no longer working as a Civil Engineer but worked nights and took whatever jobs were necessary to provide for her family. She worked at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, the Small Business Administration, and eventually back and forth with IRS. She worked hard, sacrificed, and kept moving forward because her children depended on her.
Liline officially left this world on August 26, 2026. But for many of us, a part of her heart had already been broken on November 30, 2023, when she lost her beloved son, Marc-Auguste Landais (her Teddy).
That loss changed her forever.
From that day until the day she died, Liline carried a pain that words cannot fully describe. She missed her son deeply. Her greatest wish was to be with him again. And today, we can take comfort in believing that her wish has finally been fulfilled.
Liline leaves behind her beloved daughter Ann-Melissa McClendon; her son-in-law, Sammuelle McClendon; her grandson, Khyle Thierry “TK” Landais; and her granddaughter, Audrielle Sameerah Ann McClendon.
She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Dixon Alexandre, Marie Enide Previl, Guymix Alexandre, Jean-Bellande Alexandre, Marie Monique Alexandre, and Evens Alexandre; as well as her nieces and nephews, Wisley Alexandre, Ann-Isabel Previl, Olivier Previl, Youri Alexandre, Mayrah Alexandre, Kaidyn Alexandre, and Emani Alexandre, along with her sister-in- law, brother-in law, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched.
Liline was strong. Liline was complicated. Liline was loving. Liline was generous. Liline was determined. Liline was, above all, Liline one of a kind and impossible to forget.
We will miss her voice.
We will miss her laughter.
We will miss her strength.
We will miss her advice, and yes, even her insistence on having the last word.
But most of all, we will miss the love she gave us.
Liline, you spent your life taking care of others. You worked hard for your children, stood strong for your family, and suffered more pain than many of us ever knew.
Now it is time for you to rest.
You are reunited with your son, and we pray that you are finally at peace.
We love you. We will miss you. And we will never forget you.
