It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Gene Blocker (AKA Shivas) on April 4, 2026, at the age of 60 in Newnan, GA, USA, where he had resided for the last 36 years.
Michael was originally from Salmon Arm, BC where he was raised and graduated from SASS High School.
Michael is survived by his siblings, brother Gene Lavine, Jr (Lois), and sister Betty-Jean Shivas Austin (Lloyd); nieces Blair Chambers, Chere Strain (Darren), Loreal Ford (Bryan Sr.), and Nykol (Cory); nephews Kyle Newton (Chloe), Jiro Newton (Elizabeth), Brad Shivas (Kylie); and many great nieces and nephews.
Michael is predeceased by his mother Sandra Rose Shivas (O’Kane) of Salmon Arm, BC, his stepfather Robert (aka Bob) Shivas of Salmon Arm, BC, and his father Gene Lavine, Sr (Judy) of Missouri, USA.
Michael was a fun-loving kind of guy in his own right, with a goofy sense of humor that you couldn’t help but laugh.
He had a passion for carpentry, music, playing his guitars, hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family.
Michael will be missed by many who loved and knew him.
