Michael John Navarro

May 12, 1948 ~ May 4, 2016

Mr. Michael John Navarro died peacefully on May 4, 2016 in Marietta, GA at the age of 67 after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Michael is survived by his wife of 44 years Gloria Navarro, his children Matt (Carolyn) and Nick (CJ), his parents John and Anne Navarro and his sister Sue Chartier (Louis). He also leaves three grandchildren: Carson, Brooks, and Ryan Navarro. Michael was born on May 12, 1948 in Putnam, CT. He graduated from Merrimack College located in North Andover, MA in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He met Gloria at Merrimack while she was earning her degree in Education and they married in 1971 in Stamford, CT. After living in various locations around the Northeast, they settled in Danielson, CT where both of their children were born. Michael's career began in the beverage packaging industry where he held various sales and management roles. In 1986, he and his family relocated to Marietta, GA where they lived for the next 30 years. Later in his life, Michael became a small business owner in Atlanta. He spent many years as a coach for his children in football and baseball. This love for coaching and youth sports led him to become a commissioner and volunteer for East Cobb Baseball. Once retired, he became an umpire, a passion that he truly enjoyed. Baseball was an avenue in which Michael touched many families. He also enjoyed the sport of golf. Michael was a man who stood for loyalty, friendship, faith, and above all family. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 9th from 6-8pm at the Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta. A funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10th at 11am at The Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta with a reception to follow. Fr. Joseph Aquino, M.S. will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael's life. In lieu flowers, please go to curePC.org to make a donation towards Pancreatic Cancer research.
