He was the youngest off three and the pride of the family for he was the only son in the Fuchs clan. His parents were hard-working and instilled in their children never to waste anything, Maybe this is why Jerry held onto many things throughout his life but always kept them in an orderly fashion. He attended St. Basil's Catholic School, then graduated from St. Vincent's College with a BA in mathematics. He served in the Navy and when he returned to Pittsburgh was employed as a Systems Engineer for IBM. He closely followed the Steelers and read the Pittsburgh Post Gazette daily. In 1968, he met Joyce and the two were married in 1971. Erica, his first child, was born in 1972, followed by Jerry in 1974 and Adam and Gretchen in 1978. In 1976 he advanced into an IBM manager's training program and was transferred to Atlanta. Joyce and Jerry fell in love with the East Cobb area and raised their family in the same house in Willow Point that they have owned for 37 years. After retiring with IBM, Jerry was involved in many other work related projects, which included Legal Shield Services and the real estate market. His joys focused on spending time with his loving wife, playing with his grandchildren, polka dancing, running and being an active member of his church and faith sharing groups. He volunteered with Habitat, MUST ministries and third Saturday dinners. He also participated on Wednesday mornings at the Ignatius House with the 7UPS and Friday mornings with another men's faith sharing group. Jerry truly loved interacting with people. He never hesitated to ask questions or share his opinion on any topic. His first love was lecturing at Mass. He spent long hours and days in preparation and always hoped that the congregation would feel the true meaning of his proclamation rather than be astonished at his memorization. Jerry had a wonderful life. He was loved by many and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be missed but is now enjoying his eternal rewards. We love you, Jerry!

  11. Dear Adam & Family,

While visiting Atlanta last week, Terry & Dera White & my good friend Lani White shared your loss with me. Although I have only been in your company a few times it was apparent to me that you were a special young man with excellent manners and caring for people . I know you and your family have been through many trials over the past several years . Your strength & faith are a result of the excellent parenting & values you have inherited from your Father & Mother . Now your Dad is smiling down from heaven & very proud of the man you have become . I know you will miss him dearly but he is fully restored in the Lord .

    With Sympathy & Faith

    Janet Roberts
