Mr. Lavoy Brock

August 21, 1917 ~ April 27, 2014

Lavoy Brock – Passed peacefully at the age of 96 on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 with the compassionate care of Heritage Hospice. He was born in Houlka, Mississippi on August 21, 1917 to Aura and Marvin Brock. Lavoy graduated from Mississippi State, then served his country during World War II as a civil engineer . He accepted a position with Standard Oil/Amoco Oil where he dedicated 30 years and was able to retire at 62, enjoying life with his wife, Helen, of 66 years, his family, playing golf, and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Helen Brock, Kennesaw, GA; brother, Stan Brock, , Betty Hamilton, Oleda Stewart, and Dorothy Webb, daughter Gayle Gibson, Acworth, GA; sons Steve Brock, Gainesville, GA, Jerry Brock, Powder Springs, GA; Grandchildren – Julie Bass, Columbus, GA; Sandy Lester, Cartersville, GA; Paul Brock, Powder Springs, GA; Melanie Spillman, Atlanta, GA; Holly Towns, Temple, GA; and 10 great-grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
