Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Robin Kent Smith, 68, of Acworth Ga passed away quietly at home surrounded by family on Friday February 28, 2014.
He is survived by wife, Linda; daughter Deborah Saye and her husband Steve; son David Smith and his wife Sandy; granddaughters Alyson Rattazzi and Sophie Smith; sister Janet Fineran; brother Wesley Smith; seven nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews .
Robin was preceded in death by parents Adrian and Elverna Smith; and brother Adrian Carroll Smith.
Robin loved life and lived it to the fullest. He began his adult business life in the US Navy as a radioman on an admiral's staff during the Vietnam War; he worked for IBM in various positions and divisions for 35 years, retiring in 2002; next, he became a Realtor and worked with his wife and son until retiring again in 2013. Life now was golf and fishing.
Married to his high school sweetheart, his life was all about family and friends. Remember him with them: laughing and smiling, on the golf course, on the lake, at a sporting event, socializing with his buddies, talking politics - just being himself.
When very young, his granddaughter described her Papaw: "He's my Papaw. He works for IBM, he plays golf and he watches Rush Limbaugh."
Honor his life by giving of yourself to others, by sharing a kindness, by holding a loved one.
Raise a glass, give a toast - and make a donation to the American Cancer Society or other favorite charity.
