Myrtice "Myrt" Bobell

May 11, 1926 ~ March 6, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a much-loved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lillian Myrtice (Myrt) Kelly Bobell born on May 11, 1926 in Donalsonville, GA slipped away peacefully after a brief illness Wednesday morning March 6, 2019 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital in the presence of family and ICU staff. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, William (Bill) Thomas Bobell, Sr.; three children: daughters, Janice Elaine Bobell Dobbs and Nancy Lillian Bobell Johnson (Terry) and son, William Thomas (Tom) Bobell, Jr. (Rebekah); six grandchildren: Janelle Leigh Dobbs Yates (Travis), Alan Lee Dobbs (Michele), Claude (Chip) Lee Dobbs, III, David C. Dobbs (April), Patrick Paul Johnson (Carrie), and William Brett Johnson; five great-grandchildren: Austin Lee Yates, Miranda Elaine Yates, Rhianna Rosamund Yates, Quillan Burl Yates and Makena Renee Johnson; two sisters: Margaret Jeannette Kelly Johnson, Dorothy Nell Kelly Collins Horne; eleven nieces and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Maurice Kelly and Lillian Blanche McCarty Kelly; two brothers, William (Bill) Calvin Kelly and Robert (Bobby) Maurice Kelly; son-in-law, Claude Lee Dobbs, Jr.; and grandson, Matthew Scott Dobbs. In her life she enjoyed growing flowers in her yard, sewing, crocheting, painting, and visiting the mountains and the beach. While living in Jacksonville, Florida she was president of the local PTA and worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. After moving to Marietta, GA in 1961, she worked for many years off the square at Atlanta Gas Light, several years at E. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. before finishing up her working career at Redferns in Atlanta. In 1971 the family moved to Powder Springs near her daughter Janice where she spent her time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a past president of the Powder Springs Woman's Club and for many years worked in the fall at the office of the North GA State Fair. Services will be conducted in the Columbarium at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill at 4 pm Sunday, March 10, 2019 with Rev. Jerry McCurdy officiating. Reception and meeting with the family to follow service. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to The Salvation Army or Calvary Children's Home in Powder Springs.

  1. I had the opportunity to meet and visit with Myrt at the Pearl while visiting a friends mother on the weekends for the past couple of months. Myrt had such a beautiful smile and such a great love for Bill. I’m going to miss seeing her on our visits. Prayers going out to her family.
