Nettie C Barber

April 5, 1925 ~ October 10, 2026

Born in: Barnesville, Georgia
Resided in: Atlanta, Georgia

Mrs. Nettie C. Barber was born on April 5, 1925, in Lamar County, Georgia, to the late Nattie Johnson Spear and Turner Spear. Raised in a loving family, she accepted Christ at an early age and joined Spring Hill Baptist Church, now known as Greater Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Milner, Georgia. Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. Known for her strong work ethic, caring spirit, and dedication to others, she began her career as a cook at Cavalier Restaurant and later served as manager of the Camp Wesley Senior Citizen Center for 14 years, retiring in October 1992.

During her years at the senior citizen center, Nettie coordinated meal services, organized arts and crafts activities, led devotionals, and arranged field trips that brought joy, fellowship, and meaningful experiences to the seniors she served. To her, serving others was more than a profession; it was a ministry of love and compassion. Mrs. Barber was preceded in death by her husband, Linell “Bill” Barber; her parents; twelve siblings; and her sons, Walter Lewis Williams, Jessie Roy Williams, Tommy Barber, Jerry Lynn Barber, and Herschel L. Harris.

She leaves to cherish her memory two beloved daughters, Yvonne R. Barber and Linda Ann Carter; five devoted sons, Larry Barber, Wade T. Barber, Marcel Barber, and Darrell Barber; Rodrick Barber Jr.; her son-in-law, Gregory Carter; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, one sister-in-law, other relatives, and friends. Mrs. Barber’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, selfless service, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, the lives she touched, the love she shared, and the legacy she leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her
