Phillip Samuel Tribble

Phillip Samuel Tribble, beloved son, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away on July 9, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was 73 years old. Born on November 26, 1952, Phillip grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the familiar streets of East Point, all of which shaped the gentle, steady man he became.

Phillip’s childhood was full of simple pleasures that stayed with him throughout his life. Some of his happiest memories were riding with his Uncle Harry to the Yellow Jacket, where he always ordered a “naked dog” and savored every bite. He loved buildings, planes, and cars — anything mechanical or engineered — and he had a lifelong fondness for Coca‑Cola! Even as a boy, he noticed how things were made, how they worked, and how they fit together. That curiosity became part of his identity.

He graduated from Russell High School in East Point and later attended Clayton Junior College. In his early career, Phillip worked in construction, contributing to building the city he loved.

Phillip eventually found his professional home at the Sheffer Corporation, where he worked for many years as a machinist. He was known for his quiet dedication. He didn’t seek recognition — he simply showed up and worked hard.

Faith was the steady thread running through Phillip’s life. He was a lifelong member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point, where he found community and purpose. One of his greatest joys was driving the church bus on Sunday mornings, making sure elderly members could attend worship. He loved that responsibility — not because it was grand, but because it mattered. It was his way of caring for people, quietly and consistently.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Irma Bentley Tribble, brother Samuel Wayne Tribble (stillborn), and his twin brother, Farrell Carden Tribble, who died at birth. He is survived by his aunt, Annette Bentley Langford, and cousins Mary Lynn Lyle (Steve), Michael Smith (Darlene), Anita Langford Hrabal, and Mark Alan Langford (Suzanne).

Phillip will be remembered for his kindness and his gentle presence.  He lived without fanfare, but with great love. And those who knew him will carry his memory forward — in the stories, the laughter, and the small, steady acts of care that meant everything.

A graveside service and interment will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Westview Cemetery (Section 40), 1680 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.
