Porfirio Hernandez

Mr. Porfirio Hernandez, known by close friends and family as Papa Porfirio, 80 years of age, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on August 13, 2018. Porfirio left us as he wanted to, from the moment of his last breath until he was wheeled out from home in the morning, surrounded by family. The love and caring that he led the family with was returned in all of his last years. Porfirio was a man of honor whose infectious laugh, incessant practice of English, guidance-even when we least needed it, and capacity to love and enjoy many of life’s moments was exceptional. Our hearts are heavy as we lay him to rest, but forever thankful that we, in life, were blessed with his bigger than life persona. With Love Porfirio, we wish you a great journey. Papa Porfirio is survived by his second wife Rosa; beloved daughters; Araceli, Elsa, Lidia, Monica, Lizette and Danae; and by his son, Fernando. He has twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; four sons-in-law, a sister, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Graciela; a daughter, Leticia; a son, Eduardo; a brother, Angel; and by a sister, Lupe. The family will gather to receive friends from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock on Friday Evening, August 17, 2018 at the Columbarium at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. The family will also receive friends on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Funeral services for Papa Porfirio will be held at Two O’clock Saturday afternoon in the Columbarium at Cheatham Hill with burial to following in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
