Richard S. Diltz

September 29, 1920 ~ June 6, 2017

Richard Stanley Diltz of Marietta, Georgia died June 6, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 29, 1920 to Irene Saum and Roger Leroy Diltz. Mr. Diltz served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated hero, he was a P.O.W and a purple heart recipient. He safely returned from WWII to his loving wife Marian Federle who preceded him in death in 2010. They were married for 69 years. He was a self employed furniture maker. Mr. Diltz was the Father of Sharon Diltz Litton and Sandy Diltz ( Ted ) Simpson. He was the Grandfather of Sue Anne Litton ( Lee ) Bryant, Shannon Litton ( Chancellor ), Trey Litton ( Rebecca ) and Bradley Simpson ( Erin ). He was the Great Grandfather of Tyler Bryant, Tanner Bryant, Hayden Simpson, James David Litton, Bryson Simpson and Ryder Simpson.

    • Ms. Cutler, Richard Diltz is mentioned in my father’s POW journal– he and my father were together first at Stalag 2A in Neubrandenburg and then at a forced labor camp near the border with Poland. I would so appreciate it if you can contact me to share some of the stories Richard Diltz told about those months in Germany. My father’s name is/was Calvin Friar, he fought with the 106th infantry in the Ardennes mountains, and was capture on Dec 19, 1944.
