Robert Stykes

Robert Keith Stykes departed this life to his heavenly home on March 23, 2016. He was born on February 18th 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Fulton Stykes and Mrytle Avis Sims and was one of 9 siblings from White Pine, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by siblings Bill, John, Edwin, Margie Helton, and Doris Ball. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Alyce Moore, Mary Charles Carson and Jane Smith. He met and married his best friend Charlotte Dianne Scott in 1962 and the two had 53 wonderful happy years together. They have three daughters: Ahna Maria Chastain, (Mark Chastain), Rebecca Jo Kelley, (Alan Kelley) and Jennifer Leigh Walczak, (Matt Walczak) who think he was the best father anyone could have ever had. He is also survived by his 8 Grandchildren Kyle, Kayleigh, Heather, Emory, Sarah, Josh, Carleigh and Maddy. Robert served in the United States Navy for 22 years including several deployments overseas and retired with the rank of Chief. Following his Military Service, he worked for the United States Post office for 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Fleet Reserve Association. He was a faithful member of First United Lutheran Church for over 35 years. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visitation that will be held on Saturday March 26th from 12 noon-2:00 PM at First United Lutheran Church, 3481 Campus Loop Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church at 2pm. Following the funeral there will be a graveside service at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill 1861 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, GA 30064 with a light reception at the church afterwards. Memorial donations in memory of Robert can be made to Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Community Hospice, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or First United Lutheran Church of Kennesaw.
