Romas Allen Stanley

April 17, 1938 ~ April 19, 2021

Mr. Romas Allen Stanley “Allen”, age 83, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully with praise to his Lord and Savior on April 19, 2021. He was surely greeted by Jesus as well as his beloved wife, Betty Frances Stanley, his son, Richard Allen Stanley “Ricky”, his parents, Ettie and Thad Stanley, his brother’s and sister’s Frances Hall, Marylee Watson, Rev. Ralph Stanley, Thurman Stanley and Leroy Stanley. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Wilcox (Bret), daughter-in-law Kelly Stanley, grandchildren, Brennan and Bryce Wilcox, Richard Guthrie, Bronwen Henry (Mike) and Brittany Parker, great grandchildren; Landon and Paityn Guthrie and Savannah Bardwell, great grandchildren; Aleigha Bardwell and Aubree Gray. Allen began his service in the United States Navy on April 29, 1955. His last duty assignment was on the Fighter Squadron One Seven Four in the Sixth Naval District, Charleston, S.C. He served as an Airman on the U.S.S. Bennington and was Honorably Discharged April 28, 1963. He continued working as a regional director with Eastern Toy Distributing Company, Inc. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he and his family relocated throughout the U.S. for several years. Just before his retirement, Allen owned several Huddle House restaurants, an independent Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop by Oglethorpe University and Stanley Motors, Inc. Allen enjoyed serving in the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Posse where he volunteered for just over 30 years helping children with serious handicapping conditions which is known today at the Elk’s Aidmore Children’s Center providing independence, education, treatment and rehabilitation for crippled children and adults. Mr. Stanley loved Gospel music, NASCAR Racing, antiques, working in the yard, warm sunshine on his face, prime rib and strawberry cake and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He adored his grandkids and fought a good fight in the comfort of his home the last week of his life with his family by his side. A Military Honors Funeral Service will be held at 2:30pm, Monday, May 10, 2021 at The Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr. Canton, GA 30114, family only to attend and the final resting place, graveside service, together forever for both Romas Allen and Betty Frances Stanley at 4:30pm, everyone welcome.   2. We have enjoyed being Allen’s neighbors for the last year and a half. Never did a man love working in his yard as much as Allen did. It didn’t matter what the temperature was, he would be in his yard with a rake or a broom, or he would be on the lawn mower. We miss seeing him already.
