Rose Marie Skerpac, teacher and actress, died on December 26, 2020, at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, Georgia. Born in November 1923 on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village, NY into an Italian-American family with six siblings, she was adopted at a young age and raised in Passaic, NJ by her aunt and uncle, Rose and Pasquale Cardone. Rose married her beloved husband, John Skerpac, in 1942, graduated from Upsala College in 1948, and attended Columbia University to work on graduate studies. Rose was employed at Theater Arts magazine in NYC, later moved to Succasunna, New Jersey where she and her husband raised four children and where Rose was a popular middle school teacher of English and Spanish. Ever the change-maker in her community, Rose was active in the Women's Club, American Field Service activities as well as helping drive the building of one of the first local Kidney Dialysis centers in the state of New Jersey. After the death of her husband in 1975, Rose began traveling and settled in Barcelona, Spain where she lived for more than 30 years. Life in Barcelona initially centered on teaching English at the North American Institute, after which she started a second career in acting that included many television advertisements, a music video with a pop singer that made it to the top of the charts that summer, as well as a major role in the Spanish film, Fuga de Cerebros 2, in 2011. A true Renaissance woman, Rose was a passionate lover of the arts, music, animals and her friends from all cultures, ages and locations across the globe. Rose is survived by her children Leandra Skerpac Hall and husband Gary Hall, Craig Skerpac, Valene Skerpac, Melisande Skerpac; grandchildren Alexandra Sindorf and husband Lloyd Sindorf, Nicholas Manes, Anastasia Manes; great grandchildren Emory Sindorf and Oliver Sindorf; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Celebrations of Rose's life will take place at a future date, to be announced, when it is safe to gather together. In lieu of flowers, Rose's family asks that donations be made to animal-saving organizations - the ASPCA, the Humane Society and PETA.

I remember meeting Rose at her daughter and son-in-law, Leandra and Gary Hall’s, house in Marietta, GA — on one of her visits back to the USA from Barcelona, Spain . Her stories were warm and wonderful and her laughter was infectious. She was a joy to be around.
We were very sorry to hear the sad news. Our friend Rose was an extraordinarily remarkable lady and probably the most memorable and beloved by all her friends here in Barcelona. Condolences to all the family and a big hug especially to Leandra, the only one we met personally. Staša and Mike
My condolences to Rose’s family. She was lovely, wise and cooperative, always a support to her friends. Being near her was a real privilege. She will be very missed in Barcelona.
All my love and Best wishes to Rose’s family. She was a beautiful person and a pleasure to have shared some lovely moments with her in Barcelona, She is sure a Bright shining Star
I can’t begin to express the joy Rose brought into my life. She had a grand passion for life and for people. Always so vivacious, so full of piss and vinegar, ready for the next jazz club, the next art opening, the next glass of wine. I met Rose in 1987 when I moved to Barcelona. It seemed Rose knew everyone and everyone knew Rose. So very many people I met through her! I remember on her 90th birthday she rocked Bar Les Tapes. No party or event was complete without Rose. And she was a true friend, always willing to listen if one needed an ear. She was such a shining light, and that light shines on. All of us who were blessed to know her will forever carry some of that light. It helps connect us to other people and to life at large. And it makes us better people. Bless you Rose! Bless!
Rose, always happy, always there with a candid smile, pointing her heart everywhere, like a compass Rose: God bless you and rest in peace. Condolences to her family and multitude of friends. God bless her.
I miss you Rosita!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
