Stanley Dwight Watson was born on March 4, 1950 in Chicago, IL. He was the fifth born to the Catherine and Hosea Watson. Stanley attended the Chicago Public Schools and later Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Phyllis E. Wyatt in 2011. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and was a faithful member of Impact Church of the United Methodist Church of East Point, GA. Prior to moving to Atlanta, he was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and served on the Food Pantry Committee preparing food share boxes to deliver to those in need. Stanley loved to travel to the Caribbean and Africa. His love for historical African American culture included books written by Black authors and art. He was a Jazz music enthusiast, with a personal collection of more than 1,000 recording by the world's most respected artists. In childhood Stanley had a passion for reading and was so excited when his book club picks were delivered to the house. He would finish reading several books in just a couple of days.
Stanley departed this life on December 23,2019 at home. He leaves to cherish his precious memory, a loving wife, Phyllis; six siblings John (Valarie) Watson, Roger (Joann) Watson, Elliott (Beverly) Watson, Robert Watson, Gayle Christopher Watson, Gerald (Renee) Watson and Cheryl Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
