Stephen Joseph O'Barr

Stephen Joseph O’Barr, 72, of Newnan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 16, 2026. He was born in Atlanta on August 7, 1954.

Stephen is preceded in death by his mother, Delores O’Barr Lloyd, stepfather, Ronald J. Lloyd and his father, Alvin Marion O’Barr.

He is survived by his fiancée, Marcia Hurley of Newnan, daughter Stephanie O’Barr Walker of Cartersville, grandsons Shiloh Walker of Rome and Levi Breeze Walker of Lindale, and brothers Daryel O’Barr (Nancy) of Canton, and David O’Barr (Tracy) of Stockbridge.

As an avid sports enthusiast, Stephen was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Falcons as well as of the Atlanta Braves. He loved almost any kind of music, especially that of The Beatles, and was a passionate Civil War historian. Some of our favorite memories of him are of how he enthusiastically enjoyed game days and how he celebrated and cherished the holidays, especially Birthdays and Christmas. He always made those times exciting and special for us. Most of all, Stephen had a good heart.

We will always cherish the memories we made together and the love he shared with our family.

A private Celebration of Life will be shared  with family and friends.
