Susan Lucille Grant

Susan Ashley Grant Newman (Swoozie) of Sharpsburg GA, died peacefully in hospice care at Piedmont Newnan Hospital, April 1, 2021. Susan was a native of Atlanta, born November 4, 1958. She was a 1975 graduate of Hapeville High School in East Point. She was a fun-loving person with a wonderfully sweet spirit and loved many things about life, friends, family, music and Falcons football. But she especially loved her son Christopher. Together they dealt with his many physical and mental challenges from the cerebral palsy that he has endured since birth. Susan was employed for many years at Skyline Courier in administrative positions. She loved the Lord as an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sharpsburg. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vesta Ashley and husband Tony Newman. Besides son Christopher, she is survived by an Aunt and Uncle, Joan and Gary Barnes of Marietta and numerous cousins, including cousin, Cynthia Banks Lawrance who was more a sister than cousin. On Monday April 5, a memorial service will be held at Southern Cremation & Funerals, 431 Broad Street, Fairburn, GA. The gathering will be at 12:00PM followed by a chapel service at 1:00PM.
