Valarie Denise Slaughter passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 70, entering eternal rest with her Lord. Born on September 25, 1955, in Pensacola, Florida. Valarie was the beloved child of Viola Holland and Henry Slaughter whom proceeded her in death.
Valarie was a dedicated Registered Nurse for more than 40 years, Valarie devoted her career to caring for others. Her professionalism, kindness, and commitment to her patients touched countless lives throughout her years of service. Nursing was more than a profession for Valarie, it was a calling, and she answered it with grace, skill, and an unwavering heart for helping others.
Valarie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy came from her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Keisha Harris (Benjamin), Harris; her son, Jakobi Holmes; her granddaughters, Chelsea Kartobi (Zacharia), Taylor Harris; her brothers, Henry Slaughter Jr., Anthony Holland, Norbert Slaughter; her sisters, Nora Slaughter, Patrice Slaughter-Prewitt; and uncle, Allen Slaughter. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.
Valarie also shared a special bond with her dear friends, Pat Jewell and Pastor AB Jewell, whose unwavering support and love brought so much joy and comfort to her life.
Those who knew Valarie will remember her generosity, caring spirit, her strength, her wisdom, her faith, and her ability to make others feel seen and loved. Whether through her work as a nurse, her devotion to her family, or her friendships, she made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
Valarie’s legacy of compassion, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Valarie was a blessing to everyone she encountered and knew. My most fondest memory of her was when she blessed me with enough pampers for my son’s entire first year of life. She was so consistently giving, loving and genuine. When we would talk on the phone, the conversation would last for hours sometimes. I will miss our family round table conversations and laughter at each holiday. There are so many fond memories. Well done thy good and faithful servant—Well done. 🙏🏽🕊️
