William "Billy" Parker

William “Billy” Parker, 62, of Rome, GA. passed away on April 13, 2018 in Floyd, Georgia. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill Columbarium, 1861 Dallas Highway SW, Marietta, GA 30064. Billy was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Zannie Lee Parker, Jr and Martha Jane Tyler Parker. He spent much of his life in Alabama and Atlanta. Billy was preceded in death by his father, Zannie Lee Parker, Jr, mother, Martha Jane Tyler Parker, and his brother, Charles “Steve” Parker. He is survived by brothers; Larry Parker, Sr., Marble Hill, GA, J. David Parker, Kennesaw, GA, Richard Parker (Fran), Birmingham, AL and sister, Diane Griffith, Atlanta, GA. Billy is also survived by 15 nephews and nieces; Larry Tyler Parker, Jr., Dina Parker, Stacy Parker, Jason Parker, Jeremy Parker, Zach Parker, Christi Parker, Stephanie Lewellen, Jan Burgess, Anna Reimers, Riley Kraus, Russell Parker, Jennifer Hough, Jill Welch and Christopher Griffith. He is also survived by many great nephews and nieces. Billy was a member of First Baptist Church, Rome, GA. His friends and family will remember him as the person in the family who was blessed with a big heart, big dreams and an endless gift of gab. Billy had the natural ability to talk and befriend everyone he met. His family and friends will be forever remembering him, as his love for music and Alabama Football will be a daily reminder of the joy he gifted to all. The Hershey Chocolate company will never be the same, as his daily chocolate milk consumption, or lack thereof will be noticed.

  1. I lit the candle of nature because Billy Lee often came into the church office with a hand picked beautifully fragrant flower just for me. He was a sweet, kind and humble man. I’m so sorry for the loss of a gentle soul.
